Fred

Our dear Fred passed away from renal failure last month. We estimate that he was about 17 years old. He was very much loved and will be sorely missed.

Mau

Mau was a darling kitten with spots on her chest. She died due to complications from birth defects. Rest in peace little one.

Cleopatra

Cleopatra was Mau's sister. She also died due to complications from birth defects. Rest in peace sweet baby.

Chompers

We are sad to report that Chompers passed away on February 19, 2008. Rest in peace sweet Chompers.

Kitty Cat

Kitty Cat came to Agee when his owner, Jane Beverly Haller, passed away. He never emotionally recovered after her death and we are sad to report that he passed away from Hepatic Lipadosis (Fatty Liver disease) on Friday, February 8th, 2008. He is with his beloved Beverly now.

Annie Oakley

Annie Oakley was relocated from Pollardville, CA to her new home at our sanctuary in El Dorado Hills, CA in November of 2006. In the months Annie was here, she lived a wonderful life. She had other members of her colony, food and water were plentiful and love was always nearby.

The morning of January 1, 2008, Annie was not herself. She'd taken a turn for the worse. She was rushed to the emergency room and determined through a blood test, she was dying of renal failure. We feel fortunate we were able to provide medical care for her. During her last hours she was loved to the extent possible. Sadly, her time on this earth is over. She too will wait with others at the Rainbow Bridge, until it's our time to see her again. Until then she'll be with other kitties and no longer in any pain.

That care and support is where your donations are needed to continue to provide for these forgotten and unwanted cats. Hundreds of feral felines are trying to forage food, stay warm, avoid disease, cruelty and death. Many people don't see these creatures as they do domestic cats. Fortunately, given love and patience, these cats become very devoted and loyal to those who have befriended them for showing compassion in their unfortunate circumstances.

Please open your heart and write a check today so we can continue to help these felines no one else wants.

When No No came to Agee's Sanctuary from the Golden Gate Park, we promised we'd take care of him for the rest of his life. We kept that promise. What we didn't know is that day would come on September 1, 2007. No No developed a serious, untreatable infection and in a few short days progressed to a point when his quality of life was impacted. As a feral cat, No No was independent. But in his final hours, he was continuously supported and made the trip over the Rainbow Bridge in the loving arms of his caregiver. While no passing is easy, we know that in his final hours, he was supported with all the resources available. We don't know his full history, but we estimated his age at about 14 years. While we take a moment to think of No No, we'd also like to let you know that his care couldn't be done without your generous contributions. Please think about No No and consider helping other cats like him here at Agee Memorial Wildlife with a monthly sponsorship.

Please help us to help them in their time of need. It was a short, hard time on this earth for No No. When you look to the heavens tonight, you'll know one of those twinkling stars belongs to him. You're in a place where the food bowls are full and the catnip is fresh and organic. We'll meet again. Godspeed little man.

Mary

Painting of Mary by Kaaren Poole

Her Name was Mary...

She and her brother, Joseph, came to us one scorching day this past summer of 2007, having been abandoned for two days in the 105 degree heat! Of course, both were dehydrated and nearly dead. After much tender loving care, they began to play...even prosper. But as the weeks went by, it was apparent that something was different about our "Little Mary". Our wonderful vet, Dr. Lorraine Sellars, examined her, giving us the crushing news of her fatally enlarged heart, beating nearly twice as fast as normal.

Making the excruciating decision of putting her down then or giving her a shot at what was sure to be a short life, I took Mary home. Knowing that she had only days, weeks, or perhaps a month left in what would certainly be a brief life was, at times, an unbearable burden. As the days went by, we two became inseparable. We went everywhere together, working on the computer, eating together and much more. While I knew that I couldn't save her life, there was one gift I could still give - the gift of love. I gave it to her freely and she gave it back to me unconditionally.

In our short time together, I weighed her every day, hoping for a miracle. For awhile she actually gained weight, giving me hope. Then came Saturday. On her last afternoon, while checking on her after her usual nap, she reached out to me with her little paw, as if to thank me for all I had done. Instinctively, I knew it was time to say good-bye to my dear, sweet, diminutive friend.

Even though we were paired together for such a fleeting time, she is still so sorely missed. Not a day goes by that I don't see her precious, tiny face looking up at me, depending on me, with all the innocence of youth.

I share little Mary's story as a memorial to her and all the other Marys out there. You see, we could not have helped Mary, or all the other "Little Marys" out there without your greatly appreciated help.

Won't you please help us continue to save more of the animals who are in such desperate need! All contributions are tax deductible and one hundred percent of your donation goes directly to helping the animals.
